Pilgrimage of Buddhism and cultural interchange between Japan and China

July 30 to August 6, 2002

China is not only a place where Mikkyo was Communicated from India but also where Koubou-daishi, Kukai sailed and resked his life to learn about all the teaching of Mikkyo. Also China is a country where 玄奘三蔵(Genjo-Sanzo) was born, who paraphrased and transliterated Hannyashingyo from Sanskrit to the present Chinese characters which we repeat and transcribe as if it had existed in the current form from the beginning.
This trip was very significant to Seiryuji and all the participants in a certain sense that they have further ensured their relationship with some Chinese temples long been concerned with Japanese Buddhism.
It was also very fortunate for the Seiryuji corps to have visited registered world heritage sites such as 莫高窟(Bakkokutsu) and 龍門石窟(Ryumonsekkutsu), and sensed the artistic exquisiteness, emotion and breath of the former residents.
