The founder of Shingon-shu, Koubou-daishi Kukai, was born in Sanuki,
present Zentsuji city in Kagawa prefecture, on June 15, 774. On this day,
we pray and celebrate his birthday and show him our gratitude. This day
is especially important for us because it was Kukai who gave us a tie with
Buddhism. Seiryuji wishes that we understand that we can make a great and
invisible merit (功徳(Kudoku)) by talking part in this prayer.
